Last Saturday, the GOMMA Super Showroused the old Munich town hall from its winter slumber. Gomma is one of the most important independent record labels in Germany, renowned for both innovative sounds and the striking designs of its record sleeves and t-shirts. Together with HUGO, the Munich-based label staged a new edition of the Super Show which on this occasion was attended by just as many fashionistas as music fans.

Large-scale video projections by the Gomma graphic designers Smal&Paze provided a contrast to the traditional atmosphere of the venue, creating the visual setting for the event. The finest disco, funk, and electro played under cupolas and chandeliers. The venerable town hall rocked under the feet of about 2000 fans as they enthusiastically partied alongside Gomma acts such as Moullinex, Golden Bug, Shitrobot, and Munk. The indisputable highlight of the night was the Danish band WhoMadeWho, who release their second album in March and are seen as one of the most important bands to watch for 2010.

Another of the nights highlights was the limited edition t-shirt. The HUGO t-shirt decorated with Gomma designs was specially produced for this event. With a bit of luck and skill, the much-coveted garments were there to be won on slot machines and taken home as souvenirs.
